Galaxy Gear 2 Specs, Review and Date: new Samsung wearable most durable smartwatch ever; dust and water resistant and can be used up to 6 days

Last September 2013, Samsung - the South Korean technology giant who is best known for its premium flagship smartphones, released their first ever smartwatch in the Samsung Galaxy Gear. A few months after, Samsung subsequently released its smartwatch series' successor, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2.

 Along with the release of its Galaxy Gear neo 2, KPopstarz quoted Samsung in its statement, which read, "The Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo are essential companion devices, allowing you to accept or ignore incoming calls and messages, and providing notification options based on your activity and habits. Both act as an extension of your daily life, giving you more control with a range of standalone features." 

According to Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, or simply goes by the monicker Gear 2, is similar to its predecessor an is only compatible in majority of Samsung's gadgets and devices, including the Galaxy mobile phone and tablet series.

The Gear 2 is also packed with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, 2.0 Megapixel Auto Focus, a metal body and can be used as an accelerometer, gyroscope, and heart rate sensor. The smartwatch is  IP 67 Certified dust and water resistant, which means that it is a perfect wearable for active people. Moreover, the smartwatch could last up to 2-3 days on a typical usage, but its life expectancy could go up to six days, Samsung has detailed. 

T3, who did an actual unboxing and assessment of the Gear 2, said that it weighs around 69 grams, which is 5 grams lighter than its predecessor Moreover, it has been observed that the watch's side is 1 mm thinner at around 10mm. As per CNet's comprehensive review, The Gear 2 also boasts software features such as an onboard music player, a media remote music playback on the phone, a picture gallery app, a weather app, phone dialer and call log apps, phone contacts, a calendar with appointment listings, sleep tracker, exercise tracker with coaching, an IR-controller TV remote app called WatchOn, S-Voice voice control, voice memos, log notifications, an email app. Also, Gear 2 could also act as the user's stopwatch, timer, a Find My Device phone locator that rings your lost phone if it's within Bluetooth range, and the obligatory notifications and camera function. 

The Samsung Galaxy Gear is currently available for purchase at around $250-$325 USD on  Amazon and EBay.
