Dakota Johnson and Matthew Hitt are indeed a couple. The two were spotted holding hands in New York City on Wednesday. The photos taken of the couple showed them in a public display of affection, occasionally hugging and kissing as they walk hand in hand in the East Village. Johnson, 24, was wearing a floral midi dress paired with white loafers and a leather bag. Hitt wore an all-black outfit of skinny jeans, a shirt, and a leather jacket.

Hitt, 26, is originally from Wales, and is a member of American-Welsh indie rock band Drowners, who released their debut album earlier this year. He sings and plays the guitar, and wrote all the songs in the new album too.

Apart from being a musician, Hitt is also working as a model. According to Just Jared, he has appeared in campaigns for big brands such as Gucci, AllSaints, and Band of Outsiders.

Before being linked to Hitt, Johnson was rumored to be dating "40-year-old Virgin" and "The Last Man Standing" actor Jordan Masterson. She was also linked to British actor Benedict Cumberbatch after they were spotted having dinner in NYC. However, this was later proved false as they were reported to be out on a friendly date.

Johnson is the star of the upcoming erotic movie "Fifty Shades of Grey." She will be playing female protagonist Anastasia Steele, the love interest of Christian Grey. The charismatic Jamie Dornan will be playing the mysterious Mr. Grey.

Johnson was recently asked about the movie's explicit sex scenes, of which she had obviously taken part of. In her appearance on the Today Show along with Dornan, she exclaimed that it was not like a romantic situation.

"It's more like technical and choreographed and its like more of a task," she stated.

Dornan chimed in and said, "I mean that's a big part of it. Having that, and having trus. We got ourselves into situations that don't feel that sort of natural and they're not that easy and you need to have the trust there."

"Fifty Shades of Grey" will hit theaters on Valentine's Day 2015. The long-awaited trailer for the movie has just been released. Watch it here:
