After ending season 6 with a romantic kiss shared by The Mentalist's two leads Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon, the show will be introducing a new female character who will be a threat to the budding romance. An FBI agent of the name Michelle Vega will be added as a series regular to challenge "Jisbon".

According to series creator Bruno Heller, The Mentalist will be back for its seventh season with a lot of daring action for the two leads, shares Ecumenical News. Heller also mentioned bigger challenges for the Jane-Lisbon duo, which the internet is calling "Jisbon". As a part of this challenge, a wedge between the two in the form of one Michelle Vega, a rookie FBI agent who will be clashing heads with Jane, will be introduced as the show returns.

Vega, who is to be a series regular, is currently being cast by The CBS, adds Ecumenical News. Also according to the site, Vega will be entering Jane's professional life while she is studying combat and weaponry. Vega is described as "unfazed by high-pressure situations" in a report by Michael Ausiello, says TVLine.com. The yet-to-be-cast FBI agent is reported by IBTimes to be someone "who would do anything to impress her bosses".

The new character is also expected to butt heads with Jane on the methods of solving cases. IBTimes continues to say that this clash of ego could end up in a "hate chemistry" that will challenge the "Jisbon" pairing and prompt a love triangle to unfold.

While fans await the return of the show, Simon Baker, who plays lead Patrick Jane, is enjoying some time off in St. Tropez, France. KpopStarz reported seeing the Aussie actor eating at Club 55, and was joined by wife Rebecca Rigg and two sons Claude Blue and Harry Friday on the 11^th. The 44-year old actor shot an ad for Givenchy's Gentlemen Only Intense, which was finished on June 30.

After his down time, Baker will be back on set filming for The Mentalist.
