Big data analytics startup Germin8 has closed a $3-million Series A financing for its international expansion. Kalaari Capital was the lead investor in the first funding round, according to Live Mint.

Germin8 chief executive officer (CEO) Ranjit Nair said of the deal: "With this investment by Kalaari Capital, we hope to make our technology available to companies outside India as well, even as we aim to consolidate our position as a significant analytics player in the Indian market."

Aside from expansion, the Indian startup will also use the new capital for its sales, marketing, and brand-building campaigns. Product research and development is also in Germin8's agenda, the report detailed.

Germin8's analytics product helps enterprises make business decisions based on observation and gleaning of patterns from social media conversations, emails, company chat rooms, and other online communications. MTV, Johnson and Johnson, and ICICI Prudential are among the startup's most prominent customers, Live Mint reported.
