Wedding photo and video app WedPics has snapped up $1.5 million in its first round of financing with IDEA Fund Partners as lead investor. Red Hat's Bob Young, ReverbNation's Jed Carlson, TAP, and Great Oaks Venture Capital also participated in the funding, according to Business 2 Community.

Triangle Business Journal cited WedPics Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Justin Miller saying: "We're actually starting to look into some interesting partnership opportunities with larger companies. We're also focusing on scaling the platform. Now that we've had a full wedding season under our belts, we've seen some really interesting use cases for how people wanted to use the app."

The North Carolina-based startup is also scaling up. Its 15-person team now occupies two suites in the coworking space HQ Raleigh, the report added.

Miller co-founded WedPics in 2012 as a photo-sharing app. At present, the free Android and iOS app has almost one million users with 600 new couples added every day. The startup plans to use the new capital to add marketers and developers to its team, Business 2 Community reported.
