Last minute hotel booking app VeryLastRoom has secured $2.1 million in a recent venture round for its expansion. The financing was led by APlusFinance and Extend & Sigma Gestion, according to Tnooz.

VeryLastRoom posted a funding announcement saying: "(We're) now in good position to become a key player on a last-minute hotel market estimated at $28 billion in Europe."

The French startup will use the new capital to double its 16-person team within three months. The recent venture funding brings VeryLastRoom's total raised capital to $2.65 million. In May last year, the firm nabbed $550,000 from angel investors, the report detailed.

VeryLastRoom was founded by Nicolas Salin and Sebastien Houze in 2011. The company was then launched in June 2012. The app provides mobile-based last minute hotel booking service in France and Spain, said Tnooz. By offering real-time discounts that go down the whole day, the startup helps hotels fill up the last few empty rooms, TechCrunch explained.
