Cal-Maine Foods has entered an agreement to purchase the remaining 50% membership interests of Utah-based Delta Egg Farms. The said interest will be acquired Sunbest Foods in Iowa, which is an affiliate of Moark, according to FoodBev.

Since Cal-Maine Foods owns the other 50% of Delta Egg, the latter will become its wholly owned subsidiary as a result of the said transaction. Under the terms of the acquisition deal, Cal-Maine will buy the said interests for $17 million, the report detailed.

Delta Egg Farms is the owner and operator of a feed mill and egg production facility. The site near Delta, Utah, has the capacity to contain around 1.2 million egg-laying hens. It also has an organic egg production facility that can hold around 400,000 laying hens. The latter is situated near Chase, Kansas, the report explained.

Cal-Maine expects the deal to be completed at the beginning of March 2014, FoodBev reported.
