Venture capital firm Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) has said it is on the process of boosting its total investment by approximately 50% in 2013. The company also indicated deal activity could climb in 2014, according to Herald Scotland.

In 2012, the Glasgow-based company invested a total of £40 million in its portfolio. The firm is set invest a total of £60 million this year. However, other details of next year's deals were not disclosed, the report said.

Among SEP's portfolio of 40 companies, a third of them are based in Scotland. SEP said it expects investment opportunities to go up further in 2014. The company favors the technology industry, the report stated.

Calum Paterson, SEP managing partner, said, "Technology innovation is increasingly disrupting everyday life, business activity and the global economy. We feel sure that this trend will continue at an even greater pace in 2014. Our challenge is to find the entrepreneurs who can successfully commercialize the opportunities which are opening up and to help them build great companies."

SEP expects to increase its Glasgow and London workforces next year to handle the expected workload better, Herald Scotland reported.
