Friendshippr just received USD670,000 in funding to build its crowd-shipping mobile application. Angel investors from Dubai led this round. This was according to a report published by VentureBeat.

Friendshippr is an iOs app set to launch this December. The app would reportedly help connect a person to your Facebook friends who in turn, will connect people to anyone who will transport items for for them. VentureBeat explained that, for example, a person wants to send a present to a friend in London. The app will link that person to his Facebook friends who might be headed there. Friendshippr basically turns friends into your personal courier, the report explained.

In a statement, chief executive Remi Assaf said: "This is not your typical 'crowd-shipping' startup. In fact, we think crowd-shipping or 'peer-to-peer shipping' is generally a broken model. We've made some major adjustments we believe will be a game changer in this space."

The crowd-shipping app is headquartered in the US but has operations outside of Dubai, VentureBeat said in its report.
