DeviantART received a fresh USD10 million round of financing from software company Autodesk. This was evidenced by a SEC document that was filed today, according to a report published by VentureBeat on its website.

Autodesk confirmed the new round of funding to GigaOm this day. However, the software company did not yet disclose how it will use DeviantART in its business, said the report.

The SEC document showed that DeviantART sold USD10.1 million out of USD10.5 million to private investors. The first sale occurred in early September, as reported by VentureBeat.

DeviantART, a 13-year-old social community for artists, presently has 27.8 million users and more than 250 million art files uploaded. It also has about 2.5 billion views every month. Last year, it struck a partnership with a digital comic book startup called Madefire. This allowed its users to share, create, or sell any artwork made using Madefire's tool, the report said.
