Xylem appoints 'Bala' as Managing Director of India unit

Xylem Inc was born as a spin off from ITT Corp. Xylem is a water technology company and it announced the appointment of General Electric executive H. Balasubramaniam as the company's managing director for India.

Balasubramaniam was General Electric's business director for locomotive projects as well as CEO of GE's Water Process and Technologies, South Asia. Xylem has projects in India ranging from power, irrigation, water, wastewater-treatment and industrial projects.

According to Xylem President and CEO Steve Loranger, "His success in growing GE's water business in India fit perfectly with our need to develop further in this important growth market."

He added, "We will look to him to build on the foundation we've established, leveraging our talented team to help our existing and new customers in India solve their most challenging water issues."

He would be replacing Sam Yamdagni, who would be leaving Xylem, as confirmed by a statement from the firm's Whitle Plains, New York offices.
