Indian physicians join together for heart care education in India and the United States

A prominent group of Indian-American physicians have banded together with one of the leading NGOs to spearhead cardiac care in US. The goal is to assist in seeking the reduction the incidence of mortality in the increasing number of heart attacks in India and the United States.

The organizations are the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the American Heart Association Liaison Committee. Both are headed by Vemuri S. Murthy, who announced that a Letter of Intent between the organizations were recently formulated.

The collaboration would consider programmes like the introduction of the AHA curriculum of resuscitation science in all Indian Medical Colleges. The group would also work together to assist community programmes in both India and the United States as to their awareness on heart attacks and resulting strokes.

In a statement, the partnership would help in the development of the Training Faculty in Resuscitation. AAPI President Dr. Jayesh Shah said, "The committee chaired by Dr. Murthy will function closely with AHA in India and US helping realise the mission, especially in working towards building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."
