Users might find something lacking to the new set of iPhones released by Apple Inc. compared with last year's iPhone model. According to a report from The Economic Times, the new sets of iPhones were seen to break easily.

SquareTrade, a provider of protection plans for gadgets, conducted a test among five smartphones. This included Apple's new iPhones, the 5S and the 5c. SquareTrade wanted to assess the new iPhones' durability amid common hazards. The company concluded upon finishing the test that the new Apple phones were not as durable as last year's iPhone 5.

Meanwhile, the biggest loser to the test conducted by San Francisco based SquareTrade was Samsung's Galaxy S4. This was when the Samsung's latest smartphone failed to work after it was submerged in water and being dropped 5 feet off the ground. The phone that withstood SquareTrade's torture test was Google Inc's Moto X. The Moto X was the first phone designed by Google after acquiring Motorola. The smartphone was the first to be assembled in the US and was released last August.

SquareTrade Chief Marketing Officer Ty Shay said, "We were expecting that at least one of the new iPhone models would up its game, but surprisingly, it was the Moto X that proved most forgiving of accidents."

Apple's stock fell 8% in the first five days of trading after the prices of the new iPhone handsets were unveiled. In 2012, the company generated USD156.5 billion in annual revenue.
