Samsung Electronics Co.'s Galaxy Mega would make its debut this week in South Korea. Galaxy Mega would be Samsung's attempt to increase its sales in one of the most wired market worldwide.

The Galaxy Mega would have a 6.3-inch screen which is larger by 1.3 inches than the company's Galaxy S4. The Galaxy Mega was anticipated to be around 20% cheaper than Samsung Galaxy S4. Galaxy S4's price in Seoul is currently KRW1.0 million or US$897.

Samsung's executives said the decrease in the company's sales in its home market was due to weak market conditions. This led to the executives' plan to launch various models in the country that would suit different consumers, one of which is the Galaxy Mega. Samsung already launched its Galaxy Mega smartphone in Europe and Russia.

The mobile division of Samsung reported an operating income of KRW6.38 trillion during the second quartile, up by 52% from last year. The South Korean corporation was able to ship 72.4 million units which accounted for 30.4% of the global market share. However, its market share plunged from last year's 32.2%.
