Amazon Kindle Fire HD coming this fall

New versions of the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD will likely be launched in the coming months, according to reports. The new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD will sport a 1920 x 1200-pixel display that provides 1080p quality video playback. Meanwhile, the 8.9-inch unit will get a 2560 x 1600-pixel display. The upgraded Kindle will run on a quad-core Snapdragon chip with 2GB RAM. Additional features included front and rear cameras and may come with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage capacities.

The Kindle was one among the technology products that performed well for the company. The Amazon Kindle made up 22% of the tablet market in the United States last year. This year, net sales also increased by 22% to US$15.70 million for the second quarter, compared to US$12.83 billion net sales for the same period in 2012. However, operating income decreased 26% from US$107 million in 2012 to US$79 million this year.
