Toyota Motor Corp. unveils its newest from the line of Toyota Highlanders. The 2017 Toyota Highlander will be showcased at the 2016 New York International Auto Show on March 23. The giant automaker is increasing Highlander's performance and its efficiency with new transmission and engine for 2017.

According to The Fast Lane Car.com, the 2017 Highlander can seat up to 8 passengers and have new 8-speed automatic transmission and a 3.5 liter V6 engine. This will provide Highlander buyers three various powertrain options: new V6 with direct injection, a hybrid V6 and older V6 available only in LE trim. All V6 gas models will have 8-speed automatic transmission while electronically-controlled CVT will be on hybrid models.

The new combination of the engine and transmission is available on all trim levels and provides better fuel economy than the present V6 and six-speed combo.  In front drive form, it is EPA-rated 19/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined and for the all-wheel-drive, it will be 18/24/20 mpg.

Inside the 2017 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum is new brown leather interior. It also has additional four USB ports (making a total of five) for more chargers for mobile devices.  Both the Limited and Limited Platinum are equipped with second-row captain's chairs where it could seat seven passengers or a second-row bench for eight passengers to seat, MSN reports.
