Skype for Android has added two features in its latest updated version. The new features will enable Skype for Android users to schedule Skype calls much more easily and open Office documents from Skype chat windows.

According to Venture Beat, last week Microsoft also updated Outlook for Android and iOS so the app could schedule Skype calls directly. Now Skype, also owned by Microsoft, integrate its service with Outlook even more by adding these the new call scheduling feature.

With this new scheduling feature, users can add calls schedule to Outlook via the Skype for Android app. From the Skype app, users can tap the person they want to call later, and select "Schedule a call" from the menu and the schedule will be added as an event to the user's Outlook account. So the scheduling now works both ways and users can add call schedules both from Outlook or from Skype for Android.

To make it even more convenient, scheduling calls can be directed to another calendar app. Not only schedule call in users' calendar, the integration also allows users to send out an invitation for a call to the selected person.

Another new feature for Skype for Android also make things easier for users and aim to support users' productivity. The new feature allows Skype for Android users to open Office documents directly from Skype chat windows. To use this new feature, users must first install the Office app on their Android device. Once the Office app is installed, documents can be viewed in Skype window with just one tap.

The new feature supports most Office document formats, including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets, according to Phone Arena. The feature works in one-on-one chat as well as in group chats. If the user hasn't got the Office app in his or her device, tapping on a sent document will lead the user to easily download and install the app.

According to Android Headlines, Microsoft has been working hard on making their apps more useful recently. Skype is one of their most used apps, especially Skype for Android. Thus, Skype is seeing regular updating with new features and improvements as well as fixes.

The new update will be installed automatically for Android users, but users can also check and install the updated app manually at Google Play Store. Skype also encouraged users to share their feedback on the new features via the app. With these new features, Skype is excited to help users be more productive on their mobile devices, especially smartphones.
