'Fast and Furious 8' may feature Matt Damon as well as Helen Mirren in the new star-studded cast. Paul Walker's real-life brother Cody, who stood in for the late actor in the preceding film, may also star in the new film as Brian O'Connor's brother or a brand new racer.

According to Times of India, Matt Damon is the latest rumored Hollywood A-lister to join the new cast together with Helen Mirren. It was reported that Tyrese Gibson was eager to see Damon in the action series' eighth installment, although, no official confirmation has been made as of the present. So far, the main cast will include the return of Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Luke Hobbs and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz.

Diesel, who serves as the series' spokesperson as well as main actor, teased more details for the upcoming film as it is still in early stages of development. According to Movie News Guide, the 48-year old actor disclosed that they are currently developing a series of prequels and spin-offs although he didn't elaborate on which character would be getting his own standalone film in the future.

Diesel also admitted during a recent interview with MTV that he wanted to see Oscar-winner Mirren on the new roster. He said, "They've gotta get in line behind Helen Mirren. She is on the list. Be careful what you wish for, Helen."

Meanwhile, fans have been clamoring to see the return of Paul Walker's character Brian O'Connor somehow for the upcoming sequel despite the actor's unexpected demise in 2013. Walker's real life sibling, Cody, stood in as a body double for Brian for additional scenes in 'Furious 7'. According to Australia Network News, Cody Walker may be cast in 'Fast and Furious 8' as an entirely new racer or as Brian's brother.

Rumors of Brian's possible return erupted when it was announced that Jordana Brewster, who played Mia Toretto, would return to the series. However, when Brewster was asked about the alleged reprisal, she said that she did not know about it and that that it all depended on fan demand.

'Fast and Furious 8' is an upcoming addition to the cinematic series of the same name to be directed by F. Gary Gray of 'Straight Outta Compton' fame. It is scheduled to premiere on April 14, 2017 and will star Diesel, Johnson, Rodriguez, Gibson, Jason Statham and Ludacris. Its predecessor grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide and became the fifth highest-grossing film of all time.
