HBO has already confirmed an April 2016 premiere date for its widely popular series "Game of Thrones" Season 6. However, the release of "Winds of "Winter", the sixth book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R.R. Martin from which the tv series was based on, still remains a mystery.

In an appearance at Northwestern University, Martin addressed the issue of why his sixth volume has not been released yet and what he thought about the fans urging him to announce a release date. He said, "I've been hearing them come up behind me for years, and the question is,  "How can I make myself write faster?' I think, by now, the answer is, I can't."

He added that he can only write as much as his mind would allow him to reports Christian Post. Martin, who is also a screenwriter for the tv series, noted that the tv adaptation will not be really affected by the books since it is only in the first volume.

According Vine Report, Martin already cancelled numerous appearances so he can focus on finishing the book. To this day, he remains elusive about giving a specific schedule when the book will hit the bookstores.

HBO reportedly also postponed the airing of "Game of Thrones" by a few weeks to give him more time for the book. However, the latest rumors say that the earliest could be released is spring of 2016, after the release of the show's Season 6 premiere.

The biggest assurance that "Winds of Winter" will become available by next year may have come from editor Alejo Cuervo working for the Spanish publisher of the book series. He revealed that they have been promised the manuscript to be translated in Spanish ahead of the English release. When asked how sure he was, he replied, "Well, let's see, confident... but a meteor could fall."

Meanwhile, Latin Post reports that "Winds of Winter" may focus on how Daenerys will bring fire and blood to Westeros by starting another civil war that will lead to several deaths. The "Mother of Dragons" and one of the last confirmed members of the House of Targaryen, may use all her resources to claim Westeros. It may not matter to her even if innocent lives will be sacrificed in the process.

In the almost five years since the release of the last book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, the hype and anticipation for "Winds of Winter" has not waned a bit. Fans continue to hold on to hear George RR Martin announce a definite release date for his book.
