Yo-Kai Watch has accomplished an important milestone following its Japan and North America release.  Since the start of the month, game shipments of Level 5's hand held role playing game, Yo-Kai Watch, has reached 10 million copies worldwide.

Compared to the quantity of 7 million copies sold back in March, the series have made it to the Western distribution which it gained a huge increase in shipments. Forbes commented that despite the game's initial stumble on Nintendo 3DS upon its launching, it was not until the anime series was released which boosted the sales. Another aspect to the game is that the demographic shows young ages for the series. According to many fans, they like the fact that the game is not played by so-called 'weird adults'. However, despite the 10 million shipments and Western acceptance, the game is presently struggling in Japan as Japanese children move onto other things with the game's poor distribution and over saturated marketing.

The 10 million figure includes the physical and digital copies of the game on Nintendo 3DS. The game, as revealed by Gamasutra, has beaten Pokemon as Japan's best-selling game on 2014. According to CEO Akihiro Hino, what made the best quality for the game is the fact that children can play it on the platform. He added that at the same time, the game also included features and functionalities wherein adults could also enjoy the gameplay as well. When combined, the two elements provide for a game which the whole family can enjoy, Hino believes.

The game is described by The Hacked News as an RPG which includes many tasks where players end up battling and capturing Yo-Kai, which are Pokemon-like creatures that are actually based on Japanese mythology. The game was first launched by Nintendo in Japan on 2013 as the franchise began to expand into video games, toys, movies, anime, and comic books. As the founding president of Yo-Kai Watch puts it: "From the very beginning we developed Yo-Kai Watch to be a cross-media project and not just a video game."

Nintendo and Level 5's Yo-Kai Watch is now available for physical and digital purchases for Nintendo 3DS hand held gadgets.  Game lovers who enjoy role playing games will surely find Yo-Kai Watch a good addition to their collection.
