The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact device is heading to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the first or second half of 2016. Marshmallow must come as early as January or later in April.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is set to hit Sony Xperia Z5 Compact next year with new features and key improvements. Also, the upgrade will come over the air. However, device owners have yet to wait for the official announcement of Sony as there has been no hint of report as to when they will be rolling it out.

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is expected to get first-hand the Marshmallow upgrade along with Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium. Other devices confirmed up for the update include Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia C4.

Xperia Z5 Compact is one of Sony's 2015 flagship devices which was first released last October. It has an 4.6 inches display made of IPS LCD. It features a 23 MP main camera, 5.1 MP front snapper, 2 GB of RAM, non-removable 2,700 mAh battery.

Meanwhile, an Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept for Xperia phones has been revealed by XDA Developers community. The concept brings an impressive twist to Marshmallow that Google dev has failed to look into.

The concept was first released on Xperia Z3 with build number D6603 and Xperia Z3 Compact with build number D5803 for tests. It particularly brings faster system performance with very impressive battery life improvement. The custom ROM also offers Google's native features like Doze Mode, a battery saving feature, and the new app permissions. It also brings a new home launcher that allows users to switch the app names within the dock on and off. Included here as well are media apps Album, Music and the stock Camera app.

However, excluded in the ROM include the double tap to wake, STAMINA mode, quick unlock, and Xperia Themes.
