The fifth installment of western crime drama series Longmire will be shown in the show's new home, Netflix, and is said to premiere on September 2016. The move definitely makes cast member Lou Diamond Phillips and Netflix Original Content Head Cindy Holland very happy. Meanwhile, there have been rumors of a possible crossover episode with Criminal Minds.

In a recent interview with Variety, Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays the role of Walt longmire's best friend Henry Standing Bear, shares how happy they found the perfect home in Netflix. He also added that the series' episodes will have extra airtime.

"We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters, and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode," Phillips said.

Netflix Original Content Head Cindy Holland, on the other hand, feels happy with the western crime drama series coming in the network. In a video recently released in New York Times, Holland is very happy to meet passionate people like the cast and crew of Longmire.

"I mean one of the most moving experiences that I've had in the last couple of years was when we met with the producers of Longmire. I've never been in a meeting where the producers not only cried themselves but reduced us to tears with their passion," Holland added.

Meanwhile, a report from Carter Matt speculates a possible crossover with Criminal Minds. According to the report, Longmire is a show about a Sheriff's Department who at times has limited resources while the BAU at Criminal Minds has unlimited resources more or less, thus seeing them arrive with all of their fancy equipment could make for a few fun moments.

As many fans would want a crossover episode, it might not be a possibility since both shows are from different networks. The criminals in Criminal Minds are mostly psychopaths, while Longmire's bad guys have emotional motives for their crimes. The possibility might still be there, but it will not be soon.

There is no official date yet but Longmire Season 5 will premiere in 2016.
