Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2 has been recently officially named as Aliens: Covenant and 20th Century Fox also revealed new plot details for the film which did not mention anything about Noomi Rapace's Dr. Elizabeth Shaw.

The second film in the planned trilogy was previously assumed to be titled as  Aliens: Paradise Lost, however, as reported by Geek, the studio recently gave a new title to the film, which centers on a new colony ship named 'Covenant' as it travels to a remote planet.

"Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world - whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.", the official synopsis stated.

Although the synopsis suggests the advent of new characters, it also elicits curiosity as to why Dr. Shaw was not mentioned especially since the first film ended with Shaw telling David she wants to find the home of the Engineers.

Meanwhile, as reported by Movie Web, several plot speculations suggest that the film will feature 2 new creatures that has the same DNA as the Xenomorphs but are also significantly different from the said species.

One of the two new creatures is rumored to have been created during the events of the previous instalment and was created based off of the Jon Spaihts' Ultramorph. It is reported to be transparent like a jellyfish, and was created with the involvement of the android David.

The other of the two creatures is reported to be an offspiring of an Engineer. However, this new beast is expected to be larger and stronger than average human, since the new creature draws its traits from its host.

Other plot details aside from the synopsis are currently under wraps. According to Master Herald Filming for Alien: Covenant is expected to begin early in 2016 with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender expected to reprise their roles as Dr. Shaw and David Respectiveley.

Ridley Scott is sitting on the director's chair once again for Alien: Covenant, from screenplay written by Michael Green and Jake Paglen. Further details about the sequel are expected to be revealed as it nears its October 6, 2017 release date.
