Arnold Schwarzenegger's Guardian will return to the big screen as a Terminator Genisys sequel has been confirmed. However, fans will not see the finish product anytime soon as Skydance Chief Creative Officer Dana Goldberg revealed that the production will take its time to know what the audience want.

A sequel or two for Terminator Genisys has been confirmed, and was previously slated for release in 2017. However, iSchool Guide reported that the sequel might not make it to its suggested date as Skydance's Dana Goldberg revealed during The Wrap's 6th Annual Media Leadership Conference that the team behind the franchise will conduct a  research before moving on to production.

"I wouldn't say on hold, so much as re-adjusting.", Goldberg said. She also clarified that the studio will use data and research "to do a worldwide study and really talk to audiences about what they loved, and what maybe didn't work for them, so that the next we take with the franchise is the right one."

Meanwhile, as reported by Variety, Terminator Genisys outperformed Pixar's Inside Out in terms of Blu-Ray Disc as per Nielsen's data report. The two films have been vying for the top spot in the Blu-Ray Disc sales, and overall disc sales charts, with which Inside Out earned the top spot In the latter. Moreover, Terminator Genisys also ranked number one in Home Media Magazine's video rental chart for the second week of November.

Aside from Schwarzenegger who is likely to return for the upcoming Terminator Genisys sequel, Youth Health Magazine reported that 'Game of Thrones' actress Emilia Clarke may also return to reprise her role as Sarah Connor despite reports that she was criticized for her performance in the previous film. She was also previously speculated to be the cause of the film's domestic flop.

Terminator Genisys earned $90 million domestically and $350 million internationally.  No director has been hired for the forthcoming Terminator Genisys sequel as of yet.
