Earlier this week, Microsoft launched a large-scale update for the Xbox One that brings a whole new dashboard experience to gamers powered by Windows 10. The next major update is estimated to arrive to users by February of next year.

Uber Gizmo reports that the most significant update is integrating Microsoft's new mobile and desktop operating system to the gaming console, meaning the dashboard is now Windows 10 powered. The update has also brought about backwards compatibility, removes support for Kinect gestures for navigation and brings some upgrades to the consoles stability and performance.

Microsoft Director of Program Management, Mike Ybarra, gave the estimate of at least three months until users can see the next major update for the Xbox One, dashing any hopes of getting a December or January update, according to Dual Shockers.

Ybarra adds that the few months of silence will allow the Xbox team to focus on stability. This month saw a lot of changes, with the company focusing a lot of effort on integrating Windows 10 and the Xbox console experience. With the entry of Windows 10 into the gaming console dashboard, users can now use Windows apps on the Xbox One. The changes also brought about a new and more user-friendly experience and navigation.

International Business Times also notes that Xbox utilized the pre-holiday season to put out a significant number of games with backward compatibility, totalling to over 100 games. However, Xbox has promised that they will release more games from Xbox 360 that are backward compatible, including some titles gamers are anticipating.

In other news, the gaming console wars continue to rage on with Black Friday 2015 fast approaching. Best Buy, GameStop, Toys R Us, hhgregg and Walmart will all be offering the 500GB version of PS4 bundled with "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" for $299.99. The 500GB Xbox One will be bundled with a downloadable code for "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" and will be offered at Target, Best Buy, hhgregg and GameStop for $299.99.
