The long wait is finally over for avid fans of hit TV series "New Girl" as the fifth installment will premiere on January 2016. With two new cast members on board, there will be a lot to look forward to. Fans, however, have mixed reactions with the introduction of one cast member.

According to Hypable, the fifth season will premiere on January 5, 2016 and is moved to an earlier timeslot. There will be a lot to look forward to in the fifth season, including whether or not Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnston) will get back together. Winston's (Lamorne Morris) dream of becoming a police officer definitely became a reality in the last season and many are looking forward to how he handles his dream job. Another couple to look into this season is Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) who are planning to get married.

Meanwhile, Peter Gallagher and Megan Fox will be joining the series. Gallagher will play as Schmidt's father while Fox plays Reagan, a medical sales representative who will be renting out Jess' room for a while. In a post by Crossmap, not too many are excited for Fox to come on board as temporary replacement for Deschanel while she is on maternity leave. Fox playing as the "New Girl" received "a lot of backlash, with fans threatening to boycott the show, or at the very least, not watch the episodes that does not have Zooey Deschanel's character."

Aside from Deschanel, Damon Wayans Jr. will be out of the show permanently. According to Ecumenical News, Wayans will say goodbye to the series to focus on his other show "Happy Endings". Executive producer Elizabeth Meriwether once said in an interview that Wayans "will always have a place in the show". He reprised his role as Coach in season three after only one episode in season one.

"New Girl" Season Five airs 8PM this New Year on FOX.
