Having been greatly left behind its expected release date, Gran Turismo 7 developers clarified that the game is still in development and is not to be confused with the recently released Gran Turismo Sport.

During the recently held Paris Games Week, the release of Gran Turismo Sport was announced. However, SCEE President and CEO Jim Ryan clarified that they are not announcing a Gran Turismo 7 release, but a GT Sport release, which is not a prologue either, Franchise Herald reported. The same clarification was made by SCE Worldwide Studio Head, Shuhei Yoshida through the PlayStation Blogcast, telling that they are taking a totally different take on Gran Turismo Sport.

Such announcement, according to Game Ranx, left GT 7 fans and hopefuls confused as to the status of their anticipated racing game. To avoid confusion, Ryan reiterated that GT Sport is a separate entity from GT 7, as the former is in collaboration with Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Furthermore, he said that Polyphony Digital will be releasing something, but is presently far more substantial, explaining that recent changes would enable the developers to make something more substantial than a Gran Turismo Prologue. In turn, Game Developer Kazunori Yamauchi promised a beta release of the game by next year, for which Ryan assures that there is no reason not to believe that Polyphony would not be able to deliver its promise.

Speculations about a GT 7 release on Paris Games Week may have disappointed the gaming community, but the developers promised to release the game by 2017, if not earlier. Polyphony said that they are planning to make GT 7 the latest iteration to racing game franchise to be the best car racing title, Master Herald reports. They furthermore ensured great visuals, sounds, collision physics, artificial intelligence, more premium cars, and overall, an improved gameplay. Yoshida added that they may include VR support for the game.

With the beta release still planned by next year, Gran Turismo 7 hopefuls may still have to wait and hold on to the developer's promise of up to 2017 release. Fans may be disappointed by a delayed release, but are promised of an improved gameplay.
