Developer Electronic Arts have recently updated The Sims 4 with a lengthy patch. It aimed to add a Jealousy Trait to the characters as it is part of human emotion, adding dramatic moments to the game.

During the previous games, a Sim could easily cheat from its significant other and flirt with other Sims. However, with The Sims 4, a Sim could easily cheat from its significant other, provided that it is not being caught. A jealous social trait has been added to the Sims; being part of human emotion, it makes the Sims feel like more human. The Inquisitr reports that with the new trait, it would not be easy to 'WooHoo' with others now, since one's significant other might hear it. Fights can now spark if a Sim is caught kissing with somebody else.

According to The Sims' official site, after fixing some issues and adding new features, they intended the trait for Sims to be aware of their romantic surroundings. This jealousy trait makes way for a Sim to react to the world around them. Such emotion makes a Sim to feel more believable. The trait was also set to improve reliability and responsiveness to Sim reactions. Senses were also improved so a Sim can better see and hear the things around them, with varying strengths of jealous reaction. The developers believe that these dramatic moments make the Sims feel more aware of their environment and are great opportunities to empathize.

With the new trait, being with its significant other enables a Sim to gain Confidence, and as a Sim felt a longer absence of its significant other provides Tense. In the official EA patch notes site, the developers warned players to be wary of the Sims' jealous tendencies as they spent some time to work on the Sims' reactions. The site also unveils two new interactions in the social options. The first one is only available for a limited time; the 'Trick' and 'Treat' interactions as a tribute to the Halloween celebration. The other interaction is the 'Claim', which enables a Sim to prefer a specific bed whenever it feels sleepy.

These new traits and interactions provided by the developers provide for a more believable and a more dramatic gameplay.
