Robert Downey Jr is set to don the superhero suit once again in Iron Man 4. Director Shane Black confirmed RDJ's involvement in the project, although he also added that it could be the actor's last outing as the millionaire philanthropist hero.

After the box office success of Iron Man 3, the exclusion of Iron Man 4 among the list of films for phase 3 sparked inquiries from many. Rumor mill also suggested that Downey Jr's demand to increase his pay could be the main reason for the film's delay.

However, as reported by Ecumenical News, Iron Man 3 director Shane Black has confirmed that the fourth installment to the blockbuster franchise will happen and it will feature Downey in the titular role.

Official plot details are currently unknown although, it is also heavily speculated that the film could also feature Tony Stark handing the suit to a younger character. According to Latin Post, the new Iron Man could be the  boy from the last installment, Harley, played by Ty Simpkins, who helped him with his injuries as well as with the suit.

Aside from that rumors have been persistent that it could feature Iron Man fighting with the group The Ten Rings, and finally come face to face with the real Mandarin.

Pertaining to the film's arrival in theaters, no date has been officially sealed yet, although, Master Herald reported that the earliest time for its release will be in 2019.
