The Transformers franchise will not wrap up its plot with Transformers 5 yet, as Hasbro President Stephen Davis recently confirmed that they have plotted to extend the franchise for up to 10 years more. Speculations about the project also suggest that it could be the final appearance of Optimus Prime.

While a writer's room was previously created for the film, its  objective was not clarified until Hasbro's Stephen Davis finally confirmed that the occasion was created to plot out the next instalments for the franchise.

"Well, you're going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners", Davis said. "We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time."

Moreover, as cited by Independent, he also confirmed that the franchise will be released in smaller screens as well. "[We have] plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers. Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8", Davis noted.

The official synopsis is currently under wraps, although, Movie News Guide reported that two story plots could be explored in the film. One story plot could focus on Optimus Prime as he journeys to find the Quintessons while the other one could feature Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager on how he grouped the Dinobots, and saved the world.

Also, while varied speculations are currently circling around Transformers 5, persistent rumors claim that it could be Optimus Prime's last outing as he will eventually retire after his appearance in the sequel. Movie Web mentioned that his retirement could lead to a new group of Autobots led by Ultra Magnus to replace him. Autobots Red Alert and Override are heavily speculated to appear while the Decepticons Blitzwing, Scourge, and Cyclonus are also reportedly included as well.

Although Davis confirmed Michael Bay's return in Transformers 5, it is yet to be seen if he will return in the director's chair, or remain as a producer. The film is set to be produced by Don Murphy, Akiva Goldsman, and Tom DeSanto. Steven Spielberg is set as executive producer along with Bay. It is currently slated to hit theaters some time in 2017.
