PUC's Powelson takes helm of national utility regulatory group
It's been almost a year since Exelon and Pepco announced their possible merger. Both companies are now facing difficulties as they need to comply with new conditions the district imposed. They have to adapt with the new terms if they want the merger to move forward.
The hunt for dividend yield is pushing U.S. fund managers into an unproven new offshoot of the alternative energy industry. Yield companies - commonly called "yieldcos" - are spinoffs of alternative energy companies that own assets such as wind or solar farms and pay investors dividends out of the cash flow generated by long-term contracts to sell power to utility companies.
Malaysia's Ranhill Energy and Resources is set to return the US $234 million funds it was able to raise following the IPO's cancellation.
