The US Federal Trade Commission has given its approval to the purchase of Harris Teeter by Kroger Co, according to a statement from both supermarket chains, Reuters reported.

Piggy Wiggly Carolina Co said it would sell 29 stores located in South Carolina and Georgia.
Kroger Co. agreed to purchase Teeter Supermarkets Inc. for around US$2.5 billion.
The 1330-year old company said it will purchase Harris Teeter and will assume its US $100 million debts.
