MindMaze has secured a total of $100 million funds from an early round led by India’s Hinduja Group. MindMaze, which until now is focusing on developing virtual reality interfaces in the healthcare sector aims to form future contracts and service centers, as well as expanding the technology for other uses in the form of gaming, educational and fitness applications.
The initial study was conducted with rats, but it was confirmed that the researchers seek to extend the new findings to human. The biodegradable chip was expected to help doctors monitor their patients better while reducing risks of removal re-operation, such as infections.
Wearable brain scanners and lasers that can turn hundreds of cells on and off were among 58 projects awarded $46 million in federal grants as part of President Obama's $100 million initiative to unlock the secrets of the human brain.
