French telecommunications group Altice SA is talking to several banks about raising debt for a potential bid for Time Warner Cable Inc, the second-largest U.S. cable operator, according to people familiar with the matter.

French telecommunications group Altice SA said it agreed to buy Suddenlink Communications in a deal valuing the company at $9.1 billion to enter the fast-growing U.S. cable sector.
Billionaire Patrick Drahi's cable and telecoms company Altice SA is looking to acquire the Portuguese assets of Brazilian carrier Oi SA, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Altice, founded by French-Israeli phone-industry entrepreneur Patrick Drahi, seeks to raise €750 million ($1 billion) in an initial public offering at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. Proceeds from the deal will be used to reduce its debt.
