Although the image of robots making cars is not unfamiliar, the use of automotive chatbots may be more obscure. They have immense potential in areas such as sales and general support, in-car services, and even getting everyone ready for wholly automatic cars which we all hope for in the future.

Currently, the car industry worldwide is evolving. Some of the factors which are having an immense impact on the car industry is the COVID-19 pandemic, cars which last a lot longer and don't need to be replaced often, distancing from diesel models, a new-found want for eco-friendly cars such as hybrids or electric cars, and a significant decrease in SUVs.

What is SnatchBot?

SnatchBot was founded by Henri and Avi Ben Ezra in 2015 in an effort to make bot-building accessible to everyone. According to them, "our vision of the future is one that focuses on efficiency. We believe that this is possible for every industry and sector if bots and humans work together effortlessly so that AI is used in the favor of humanity."

How are chatbots influencing the automotive industry?

Decreased financial implications

By 2020, it has been reported that businesses will be able to save more than $8 billion every year through the effective use of chatbots through the automation of processes which generally take a lot of time from people, including sales and marketing, customer support, and after-sales service.

This is especially significant when it comes to customer service because of the extensive costs which are generally associated with both finding and training customer service agents. Chatbots can efficiently resolve queries in no time at all, and can also be used to make service appointments and schedule maintenance.

Easier sales interactions

There is a lot of information available to customers in the beginning stages of their buying process - this is often available via the car dealership's website or other social media platforms. However, this information can be overwhelming and the use of chatbots to help customers in the early stages of their purchase process will have a significant impact on not only the likelihood of their purchase from your company, but also the popularity of the brand in general.

Using chatbots in popular apps like Facebook Messenger has the potential to reach an exponentially increased target audience and inspire awareness of the brand. Most people constantly use Facebook Messenger to connect with others, and if they're able to get information on buying or trading in a car at the same time, it's all the better.

Chatbots can be used to answer general queries and also initiate an intelligent discussion without users having to spend time filling in forms or waiting long periods of time for a reply.

More than that, chatbots open up the potential for online sales - a growing trend worldwide. Chatbot templates can deal with the features of every available model, the price attached, and the unique benefits it offers. This is very easily updated as new models come about.

Decreased waiting periods

In this modern day and age, users tend to want information immediately - and most aren't willing to waste too much time in search of answers to their queries. Chatbots are able to aid in this endeavour by offering 24/7 support. The automation of the process of getting the necessary information before making a decision on a car means that users are able to make the decision from home without having to wait at a dealership.

Intelligent chatbots are also able to provide clients with personalised options according to their browsing history or general behavior online. They can also use personal questions in order to ascertain what the client needs - this is already being done in other sectors such as health, insurance and banking.

Simpler after-sales service

In the United States, it's been reported that Americans will spend approximately $400 on car repair and maintenance annually. However, most Americans will visit their local mechanics rather than going to the car dealership where they purchased their vehicle. Chatbots can rectify this by the improvement of the engagement between the dealership and the client through the automation of many steps in the delivery of services process.

One example is the fact that many people will have to call and stay connected for quite a while before they can arrange a time to take their car in. At this time, they also want to know how long it will take and how much they will need to pay. Chatbots, however, can automate this process so that clients can see what it will cost and make an appointment without needing to speak to someone.

After the appointment has been made, chatbots are also able to send out reminders so that booking space isn't wasted by clients accidentally forgetting to bring in their car.
