Telecom Italia (TLIT.MI) will examine a possible tie-up between its Brazilian unit Tim Participacoes (TIMP3.SA) and local group Oi (OIBR3.SA), it said as it announced the sale of mobile phone masts for more than 900 million euros ($1.1 billion).

Brazilian telecommunications provider Oi SA (OIBR4.SA) said on Monday it has not entered into any agreement to join a group of rivals to buy Telecom Italia SpA's (TLIT.MI) stake in Brazilian phone company TIM Participacoes SA TIMP4.SA.
Mexico's America Movil SAB, Spain's Telefonica SA and Brazil's Grupo Oi SA agreed to place a bid for and to break up TIM Participações SA (TIMP3.SA), Brazil's second-largest wireless carrier, Folha de S. Paulo reported on Friday without saying how it obtained the information.
As its acquisitions increase and earnings go down, billionaire Carlos Slim's mobile phone firm America Movil's record rate of stock repurchases could decrease, Bloomberg reported.
Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore said Telefonica is planning a joint offer of TIM Brasil, the local wireless unit of Telecom Italia, Reuters reported.
The antitrust regulator of Brazil has instructed Telefonica to bring down its influence in the country's telecommunications business either by reducing its holdings or convincing Telecom Italia to sell its local unit.
The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported on tuesday including Adcock Ingram, Energa, Nordea Bank, Alitalia, Ben Venue, TIM Participacoes, Douglas, Mercator, Novartis, OncoMed, Kerning and Malaysia Airports
Italy-based Telecom Italia told regulators that it did not get any offers for its unit in Brazil and that it intends to keep the unit. The company issued the statement in response to a request from an Italian regulator regarding Telecom Italia's plans for its Brazilian business.
