Didi's target for funding has raised to $1.5 billion to compete with Uber in China. Didi operates in 400 cities and is expected to accelerate to about 10 million at the end of the year.

Ride-hailing app Grab is partnering with Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group. Under the deal, Grab will provide its service to deliver products from the conglomerate’s e-commerce. The deal emerged when ride-hailing services in Indonesia are facing challenges in terms of regulations.

UberMOTO is now made available in Bangkok competing GrabTaxi's GrabBike. Due to the staggering loss it incurred in China, Uber finds Bangkok as a fit location to pilot its motorcycle service program that will give two free rides to first-time riders until March 15 as its celebratory offer.

After enjoying successful services in several Asian countries, GrabTaxi introduced a carpooling service in Singapore. The service is available for testing on Wednesday in the country. Drivers participating in GrabHitch must provide elligible document and verification checks.

Taxi drivers in Los Angeles will be required to use an Uber-style app allowing riders to hail cabs from mobile phones, city officials decided on Thursday, in a move to help licensed taxis compete against ride-sharing services.

Washington's city council approved a bill on Tuesday regulating app-based ridesharing companies such as Uber and Lyft in the U.S. capital, a council spokesman said.
