The New York Fed announced its new GDP tracking and forecasting tool, the FRBNY Nowcast. The tool will use near real-time data to update U.S. economic growth daily, as the Fed will release a report weekly using the tool and data.

The United States was on track to expand 0.7 percent in the second quarter after data showed domestic housing starts surged to their strongest level in about 7-1/2 years in April, Atlanta Fed's GDPnow forecast model showed on Tuesday.
A forecast model from the Federal Reserve of Atlanta on Wednesday suggested the U.S. economy is barely growing in the first quarter following an unexpectedly steep 1.4 percent drop in durable goods orders in February.
