For the uninformed, Shantae is the young, quiet half-genie who became widely popular among fans since the game's release in Game Boy Advance in 2002 and was released for  Nintendo 3DS console in 2013. Also, the game developer announced its plans to bring the game's fourth entry to ther series on current gen platforms.

Shovel Knight from Yacht Club Games got 105 votes,  Wolf from Star Fox garnered the third place with 103 votes, while Isaac from The Binding of Isaac got 102 votes and Snake from Metal Gear, earned 97 votes.

Christian Post noted that this result is unofficial fan poll on Reddit and that the character who will win the special ballot wil be announced by Nintendo after Oct. 3. Gamers can still cast their votes on who is the character they want to play next on Super Smash Bros. 4

In earlier report, rumors have it that next DLC character for the nintendo title will be Shovel Knight from popular side-scrolling game. This speculation came to light when the game was confirmed by Yacht Club Games to receive its first official third-party amiibo. The game developer was tight lipped on the inclusion of Shovel Knight in the game when he said, "No, we don't have anything to say about that."

But Velasco expressed his excitement regarding the confirmed amiibo for Shovel Knight saying, "We're the first third-party amiibo being made. Nintendo, they do this thing where they go to developers and tell them what's next. "We brought up amiibo, and they gave us a run-down of everything. We never thought we could do a third-party amiibo, but that's what Nintendo's plan was."

The official results for Nintendo's special promo on the next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. 4 will be revealed after closing date on October 3. Stay tuned.
