Selected Nexus devices such as Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 will be rolled out with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest Google software update after Lollipop, around late September to early October. With the advent of most updated operating system, Android users can expect a variety of new features and bug fixes to be released to their smartphones.

This year, there are lots of rumors going around that the Big G is working with mobile device manufacturers LG and Huawei to develop new Nexus phones packaged with the newest Android M. According to Android Geeks, both smartphones will have superior specifications like high-definition display screens, Snapdragon processors, fingerprint input sensors, USB Type C, and 4GB RAM.

The article also reports that the aforementioned is part of Google's new strategy in software update development since Lollipop. The company is noted to have announced this in the I/O developer's conference before it conducted month-long experiments with its preview builds in chosen Nexus devices. Then, it is slated to launch the update's final form in mid-fall.

As per a report by GottaBeMobile, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Nexus devices brings along upgrades and fixes to the system. First off is Android Pay, Google's contender for Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. It is intended to replace the Google Wallet in making easier mobile payment transactions. It supposedly makes use of a feature same as that of Apple Pay's TouchID.

The update also brings one of the most anticipated Android developments, the Apps Permissions update. It does away with pre-installation permission, but instead prompts to ask permission from the user only when an app needs a particular feature to operate. It also enables users to manually toggle an app's features on and off.

Another major improvement is the now-smarter Google Now on Tap. This feature analyzes in-app content and shows relevant options based on the information it gathers. For example, a user chats with a friend in Hangouts about a newly-opened restaurant. The user just holds down the home button and Google Now on Tap searches for and provides information about that restaurant like its menu, rating, and customer reviews.

Other useful features in the latest Android OS update include automatic data backup on Google Drive, a fingerprint scanner support, a power-saving feature to reduce battery consumption like Doze, and Deep Linking. The latter removes the hassle of asking the user to choose what app to use to open a link. It automatically tells the device which app to use for a particular link.

Neurogadget also says that the Android M has a simplified Phone Dialer, an updated RAM manager, and a setting which allows users to store data in the microSD card by default.

Rest assured that Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 devices will come equipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its many features and bug fixes. In the meantime, users may try the Preview 3 build, the near-final version of the software, by downloading it from the Android website. Meanwhile, users of Samsung, HTC, and other devices may have to wait a little longer for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
