Prometheus 2 is in pre-production, and progress has been reported as Ridley Scott confirms that he will direct Prometheus 2. Scott expresses his excitement about it, and reveals some relevant bits of information his plan for the sequel.

In an interview with Empire, Matt Damon, star of Scott's latest film, The Martian, talks about the speed in the way Scott works. He mentions that after about two weeks of filming, they were done with the shoot. To which, the 77 year-old director adds that he is already at the helm of the his next project, Prometheus 2, and that he was even on the hunt for locations.

According to Cinemablend, Prometheus 2 will take off from the first movie's ending. At the end of 'Prometheus', we find Noomi Rapace's character Elizabeth Shaw, and Michael Fassbender's David continuing their journey with the goal of going to the Engineer's home planet. There are also reports that the script of 'Prometheus 2' is by Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and the rewrite by Michael Green (Smallville, Heroes and Green Lantern Movie) and adds that there were 15 drafts of the script being worked on.

While Scott remains largely silent on the decided plot of the new sequel, he has confirmed to MoviePilot that the characters' search for "paradise" will be central in Prometheus 2. However, he comments that paradise may not be what we think it is since it can be  "extremely sinister and ominous". On the other hand, Rapace and Fassbender have not confirmed their involvement in the sequel of Prometheus.

Ridley Scott directed the successful 'Prometheus', which served as a distant prequel for the massive blockbuster franchise 'Alien'. With the completion of the script and Ridley Scott confirming his direction for Prometheus 2 and scouting for locations already, the shooting is slated to begin this January 2016.
