"Penny Dreadful" Season 3 will possibly be featuring Lily Frankenstein and Dorian Gray as the villains since fans think it is the right move for the show's upcoming season. It was also previously reported that Ethan and Vanessa will have a more intense romantic relationship and it is set to be darker.

In a report by Fashion & Style, in the season 2 finale of "Penny Dreadful," Victor Frankenstein has confronted his creation Lily Frankenstein and her lover Dorian Gray. Victor attempted to kill them but since they are immortal, his bullets were not able to affect them.

Fans of the show hope that the lovers will be the new villains as they will be forcing the whole group to be a team again. Basically, Vanessa and Victor are the only ones left in London. Ethan was captured in season 2 and Sir Malcolm Murray is in Africa while Caliban is in the Arctic. If and when Dorian and Lily will be villainous in Season 3, the group might be whole again.

Fans would also love to see Dorian and Vanessa face off in a battle since the latter has discovered her powers. Vanessa is the reincarnation of the ancient Egyptian goddess Amunet so Dorian's immortality might not be too difficult for her to defeat.

Meanwhile, it is expected in Season 3 that Vanessa and Ethan will be having a deeper connection although it was previously reported that it will be geared towards a dark romance since the two have had their fair share of dark moments in their lives.

A new character will also get to join the cast in "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 as MNR Daily reported that the showrunner, Josh Logan, talked about that possibility.  He shared, "After two years I am finally adding another famous literary character. It's been fun going into another writer's brain and bringing one of those great characters back into our world." It is reported that it might be Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. No clarifications about this information yet.
