Fans who are awaiting the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Mortal Kombat X will be delighted to hear that the game co-creator and creative director Ed Boon has recently tweeted an update on its long awaited release date.

While there is no specific date given, it is still a relief for fans who are looking forward to the last gen consoles version and knowing that it may come out anytime soon. Via his personal Twitter account, Boon has mentioned on the release status of Mortal Kombat X PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. When being humorously asked by a fan that he's forgetting something,  the creative director has replied that an "update [is] coming soon."

Design & Trend reports that a lot of questions have been asked about the developer's failure to release PS3 and Xbox 360 versions alongside the PS4 and Xbox One versions last April despite the fact that the scaled down builds were clearly associated with the project at Sony's E3 2014.

While High Voltage Software is giving full attention developing the game PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, rumors swirl online that NetherRealm Studios is busy developing Kombat Pack 2 for Mortal Kombat X.

Accoding to Christian Today, Ed Boon and NetherRealm continue to tease fans with hints on the next Mortal Kombat X DLC when Boon posted an image on his Twitter account with a hastag, #IfThereIsAKombatPack2.

In addition, NetherRealm Studios referred to the first four DLCs that introduced Jason Vorhees, Tanya, The Predator, and Tremor as Kombat Pack 1. While it appears that Kombat Pack 2 will certainly arrive, the debate is on who as to who will fill the roster of the next Kombatants. Rumors have it that the non-playable characters in Mortal Kombat X such as Rain, Sindel, and Baraka will be included in the second Kombat Pack.

Mortal Kombat X is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, PC and mobile platforms.
