"John Wick" directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski recently revealed that they are already developing a sequel to the 2014 action thriller film. Keanu Reeves is set to reprise his role as the titular character in the film which Lionsgate may turn into a multiple-title action franchise.

After the successful release of "John Wick" last October 2014, Lionsgate has given the go signal in developing a follow-up movie. In an exclusive interview with Movies.com, co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch confirmed that they are already working on the highly anticipated sequel. The pair revealed that they are eager to give the fans another ride with the retired hitman. In fact, they are confident that they can out-do their work in the first film.

"We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original," Stahelski said. "It's the matter of story and how much you like the character. That's always the most important," he added. Referencing Liam Neeson, Robert Downey Jr., and Harrison Ford, they are planning to craft a story that will make the audience love the "John Wick" character first before dressing the film with sequences that people will definitely find "awesome."

Meanwhile, those who enjoyed the first film may be pleased to hear that there are big "John Wick" related plans. Variety reports that Lionsgate is interested in turning the film into a multiple-title action franchise. For those who are yet to see the movie, "John Wick" follows the story of a retired assassin on a personal mission of bloody vengeance. The movie did quite well in the box office, grossing over $70 million worldwide.

Reeves is set to reprise his role as the titular character while the rest of the original cast's return is yet to be announced.  "John Wick 2" marks the third time Reeves and both directors will be working with one another. The three first worked together in the 1999 sci-fi action "The Matrix" where Leitch and Stahelski performed as stuntmen.
