The newest actor to play the web slinger is Tom Holland. His age was talked about for a while as he is only 19 years old, way younger than Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield when they played for the title role "Spider-Man." Holland on the other hand already predicted that he would be the next "Spider-Man" exactly two years ago.

Tom Holland, 19, is the next Marvel superhero to watch out for. The new Peter Parker is much younger than his predecessors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield who both were in their late twenties when they became 'Spider-Man.'

It did not become easy for Holland to be the next 'Spider-Man,' as he had undergone series of screen tests before he was picked by Marvel. According to International Business Times AU, Holland's screen test with Robert Downey Jr. made an impact for him to land the role of 'Spider-Man.'

Tom Holland also had a test screening with Chris Evans, which was the final of the test screenings. Apparently, Holland passed all the screenings which made him play the web slinger. "For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom's screen tests were special," said Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures Group. The said test screenings were done for his cameo role in "Captain America: Civil War."

About two years ago when Tom Holland was awarded the "Best Male Newcomer" at the Empire Awards, he was asked if he would like to play as a superhero and who would he like to play, he just answered "I-I don't know, what kind of superhero would I want to play? Maybe...maybe Spider-Man in like ten years time, maybe!"

Holland is currently preparing for his much awaited role. Just recently he posted on his Instagram that he's going to hit the gym (maybe for his muscles to tone up, as it's really needed for his role).

Writers Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley are the ones who will pen the script for the Marvel superhero. "Spider-Man" will open in theaters on July 28, 2017.
