‘Sense8’ Season 2 Update: Netflix sci-fi series set to ‘expand’ minds says star Daryl Hannah

Netflix's sci-fi drama just "Sense8" just concluded its first season and the Internet streaming giant has not announced the renewal of the show. After the first season's finale, opinions of fans and critics are divided. Despite some unfavorable reviews, star Daryl Hannah is quick explain that the show will expand the minds of its viewers eventually.

"Sense8" follows the story of eight random strangers living in different cities, who suddenly became mentally and emotionally connected to each other and are called, "Sensates." Capheus (Aml Ameen), Sun Bak (Bae Doona), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Kala (Tina Desai), Riley (Tuppence Middleton), Wolfgang (Max Riemelt), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), and Will (Brian J. Smith) are able to communicate, sense,  and use each other's knowledge, language, and skills. The conflict begins when Whispers (Terrence Mann) starts hunting the sensates in his desire to tap into the link of the eight protagonists.

Shortly after the season 1 finale titled, "I Can't Leave Her," reviews about the first season surfaced online. Not all viewers though, saw eye to eye to what had just transpired in the season premiere.

Paste Magazine noted that most of the episodes of "Sense8" were filled with overacting and furrowing exposition and explanation. The site also wrote that the Wachowski siblings seem to be stuck in their ways and most probably will offer something new on season 2.

Rotten Tomatoes gave the Netflix series a 68% evaluation with 5.8/10 rating per critic. The review aggregator said that some of the scenarios in the show border on illogical but the diverse characters and their connections keep the show alive. The audience however, gave the show a staggering 91%.

Star Daryl Hannah boasts of the show's depth in her interview with The Guardian. The 54-year-old actress said that the vital elements of the show will soon be revealed.

I believe that when you see the whole series it will expand your mind and your heart," Hannah said.

Whether or not the "Sense8" season 2 will happen is still unconfirmed. The mixed reviews that its first season got could affect Netflix's decision to renew the show or not but Daryl Hannah is confident that this project of the Wachowski siblings will definitely make a whole lot of sense eventually.
