"The Flash" season 1 finale episode ended with the vanishing of Eobard Thawne's (Tom Cavanagh) existence after Eddie (Rick Cosnett) killed himself. While most fans believed that it was the last of Eobard Thawne in the series, the show's executive producer revealed that Cavanagh will be back in season 2. Will he be back as Eobard or will he become the real Harrison Wells? This article contains spoilers for "The Flash" season 2. Read on to learn more about this story.

"The Flash" season 1 ended with Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of the team grieving over Eddie's death. Eddie sacrificed himself when he figured out that taking his own life would mean that Eobard will no longer exist. Eobard's existence has been wiped out following Eddie's death, which led most fans to believe that Eobard will no longer be in the series. Executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, however, revealed that Tom Cavanagh, who plays Eobard Thawne, will be back in season 2.

"Tom Cavanagh will be back. That is not in question. Tom Cavanagh will continue to be a regular," Kreisberg told Cinema Blend.

While the producer did not spill details on how and why his character will remain in season two following the vanishing of his existence in season one, the outlet noted two possible roles that Cavanagh can take on. Cavanagh could reprise his role as Eobard Thawne and continue being the bad guy or he could return as the real Harrison Wells because the vanishing of his existence also means that Wells was never killed in 2000.

Meanwhile, the show's executive producer also hinted that Cavanagh may not be the only character to return in season 2, as Eddie may still find a way to return in "The Flash."

"The great thing with our show - you saw it with Colin Donnell and with Caity Lotz is just because you are dead doesn't mean you're not coming back," the producer teased. The producer also revealed that season two will introduce "a few more speedsters" couple with more villains.

"The Flash" season 2 returns to The CW this fall.
