'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is without a doubt the most anticipated superhero film not just because of how fans have been longing to see the two superhero titans together on the big screen, but also because of its star-studded cast. Speaking of the cast, recent rumors indicate that an iconic Batman villain is going to make an appearance in the film.

According to a report posted by Screen Crush last week, it looks like Jared Leto's The Joker would be in next year's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.' It has long been speculated that the Dark Knight's greatest archnemesis would make an appearance (however short it may be), but until last week's article by Latino Review, there have been no reports as to whether or not this could actually be possible.

The rumor, as stated in the report, is that the Joker would briefly appear in a flashback sequence where he would be seen brutally murdering Jason Todd. It was recently rumored that Ben Affleck's Batman will be appearing in 'Suicide Squad,' where the Joker may probably be the main antagonist, so this thing about the Clown Prince of Crime showing himself in 'Batman v Superman' is not really that far fetched.

One major issue that this speculation raises is how "overstuffed" 'Batman v Superman' already is, with the likes of Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg being confirmed to appear. Some critics have pointed out that having all of these characters in a Batman and Superman film may draw the focus away from the two central figures of the movie and basically ruin the character development, much less throwing in the Joker, who is another major character in the DC Universe.

In spite of these fears, there are also those who believe that adding the Joker to the mix may actually serve the film quite positively, especially with that scene of him beating and killing Robin. One has to understand that the Batman fans will get to see in this cinematic universe is someone who has had many years of experience fighting crime, is dark and cruel (as hinted by the trailer), which could have been possibly shaped by the events like the one the rumors are saying. Getting to see a scene like that will flesh out Batman's character more and help viewers understand what turned the Dark Knight so dark in the film.

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
