What happens when international renowned singer Diplo & Katy Perry cross paths? Fireworks?

During summer a year ago, reports have swirled that mega superstar Katy Perry has been skating to the line of dating American DJ Diplo. More recent news say that she has called it quits with her rumored beau. What's the real score between the two popular artists who have made a connection?

In an interview during summer last year, around the time she & Diplo were seen going out together after the Coachella annual festival, Katy said that she likes it when she can really be myself.  It appears that Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, has been letting her authentic self shine through. She also mentioned that she's "living in the now and not fantasizing about the future or [being] torn up about the past."

Having been caught in the maelstrom of intrigues and media scrutiny whenever she's in a relationship, Katy has learned her lesson and has kept her relationship with Diplo low-profile. Katy acknowledged that all the attention heaped on affairs-of-her-heart (specifically with Russell Brand and later on John Mayer) had taken a toll on those relationships. Hence, she has kept what she has going with Diplo under wraps.

It's interesting to note that the pop princess and the co-creator/lead member of the EDM project Major Lazer have a common denominator: they're both 'perpetual motion machines,' to borrow Diplo's self-description. Well, fans are thrilled about the blossoming relationship between two people in 'perpetual motion.' They do look cute together, and they're stars in their own right.

At the Super  Bowl half time show, Diplo made sure he was in the crowd to lend support to his 'special girl.'
