In recent weeks, and even months, a lot of news outlets have reported about rumored changes coming to "Mass Effect 4." Fans of the franchise probably already know all the reported details by heart, but just to refresh everyone's memory, some of the planned changes already include enhanced graphics made possible by the franchise dropping the last-gen consoles and focusing solely on catering on the current-gen ones.

The game will also bring back multiplayer mode, which can be seen as kind of a surprise given how poorly fans reacted to it when it was first launched, but the people behind the game insist that their updated version will be better received, and simply more enjoyable to play, according to Culture Mob.

BioWare, the game's developers, has also said that the characters in the newest game will be very detailed to take advantage of the hardware that's on hand, according to Gameranx

Considering how detailed the characters were in "Dragon Age: Inquisition," another BioWare project, it would seem prudent to expect at least the same quality of work to be applied to "Mass Effect 4."

Of course, even the best graphics, and the tweaked gameplay elements wouldn't amount to much if BioWare were to somehow drop the ball when it finally came to the game's story. It's already been reported that BioWare is bringing back John Dombrow, a writer for a previous "Mass Effect" title, to come work on the game's storyline, according to iDigital Times.

It could be interepreted as the developer looking to its past to ensure a better future for the franchise, but it's not the only major change coming to the "Mass Effect" world. With Commander Shepard Shepard also reportedly gone as the game's leading man, it would appear as though BioWare now has a blank slate to work with in terms of adding more to their universe.

Rumors of a female or perhaps even transgender character have also made the rounds online, and if BioWare does indeed to go in either direction, then there's no telling what the newest game could be like.

For now, all the fans can really do is wait.
